6 Things You Didn’t Realize Totally Turn Her On

You can pull out all the stops to get her to like you—dates, flowers, even romantic strolls on the beach. Wouldn’t it be great, though, if you could get her to like you without even trying—or at least, not trying quite so hard? Well, good news: being her Casanova need not be so hard. Read on to find out the six ways you’re turning her on just by being regular ol’ you.

You wear red every now and then
A study from the University of Rochester found that simply wearing red makes a man more attractive and sexually desirable to women. The reason? It makes you appear more powerful. Plus, it’ll have her giving you a double-take. “Red is one of the colors that, depending on the background contrast, causes longer orienting reflexes, in which you look abruptly at a novel feature in the environment,” says Jim Pfaus, Ph.D., professor of psychology at Concordia University. “So wearing red could get her to look at you.”

You’re a bit sullen
A study from the University of British Columbia found that women perceived happy guys to be less sexually attractive than brooding men. The research found that women were attracted to men who looked proud, powerful, moody, or ashamed. Smiling, however, might symbolize a lack of dominance, a gender norm she may prefer—so cut that out.

You are simply alive—thanks to your immune system
Researchers from Abertay University gave blood tests to men before and after a Hepatitis B vaccine, which triggers the immune system to create antibodies to fight the virus. The researchers correlated men with higher levels of the sex hormone testosterone to having stronger immune systems, and men with the strongest immune systems were rated better-looking than those with weak immune systems. You’re touchy-feely
Touching creates liking and attraction. Translation: when you touch people, they become more attracted to you, says Jeremy Nicholson, Ph.D, the Attraction Doctor for Psychology Today. Touch also conveys affection, receptivity, and similarity. So touching others in a friendly or social way may make her think you can offer her the same.

You're inquisitive
Women like men who are sensitive enough to know how to make the woman they are with the center of their attention, Pfaus explains. “Women want to be wanted at many levels, not only sexually and physically, but intellectually and emotionally,” he says. She wants you to know her and be more than just superficially interested in what she has to say. So if she notices you inquiring about your friends’ lives, she may assume you would be attuned to knowing about hers as well.

You showered
Besides being clean, it’s your soap she finds appealing. “Women are attracted to the ‘right’ body smells, which can be a mix of one's natural scent and soap, scented deodorant, or scents from perfumes,” says Pfaus. Good hygiene may denote good health, and if we’re looking at evolutionary biology, that means a good mating partner.
