What Happens To Your Body When You Always Lift the Same Amount Of Weight

Much like our breakfast of choice or what we wear, most of us tend to gravitate to routine when it comes to our lifting workouts: We often use the same amount of weight, over and over. No shame—it’s particularly comforting to select a weight size you know you can handle when you’re at the gym, and when you’re sweating at home, you may not have a variety of weights to work with. But experts say not changing your weight size means you’ll be missing out on some pretty hefty benefits.

“When you train with the same weight week to week, over time, your body will adapt to the resistance, and you won’t see gains in muscular strength or hypertrophy [size],” says Jacque Crockford, a certified strength and conditioning specialist and exercise physiologist with the American Council on Exercise. Compare it to running the same distance every time you hop on the treadmill—at some point, you’re not going to see your body improve, since you’re no longer challenging it.

The Scary Health Condition Sleeping Too Long Can Signal

There’s nothing better than sleeping in, right? But sleeping for too long might be signaling something serious about your brain health, researchers from Boston University School of Medicine suggest.

In the study, people who slept for more than 9 hours a night were twice as likely to develop dementia of any kind over a 10-year follow up than those who snoozed between 6 to 9 hours nightly. They were also 71 percent more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease.

4 Smart Ways to Kill Sugar Cravings

If you have a tough time resisting those cookies on the conference table, you’re not alone. It’s no secret that Americans love sugar. Most guys eat more than double the amount the American Heart Association recommends.

While it’s tempting to blame your dessert habit on the simple fact that sweet foods taste delicious, there are far more physiological, mental, and even emotional factors that send us searching for sweetness. Consider the following:

How to Make Sure She’s Enjoying Sex Just As Much As You Are

Sex might not feel as great for her as you think: After surveying nearly 6,700 British women, UK researchers found that 1 in 13 of them reported feeling physical pain during sex. What’s more, women who found sex painful were also more likely to feel uninterested in sex and had more trouble getting wet and reaching orgasm.

Sex can hurt her for lots of reasons. About 2 percent of the women who reported feeling pain said their pain was severe. In those instances, underlying medical issues with her uterus or other common conditions, like urinary tract infections, were the cause, explains Mitchell.

But more often, the pain is just caused by a lack of lubrication. In fact, 45 percent of the women in pain also reported experiencing vaginal dryness—the main culprit behind uncomfortable sex for most women, says Mitchell.

4 Tailoring Secrets That Will Instantly Make You Look More Attractive

Ever wonder why celebrities always look so sharp in a suit? It’s not because of their perfect physiques (OK, that helps). It’s because they understand that clothes never fit perfectly off the rack; but you don’t have to be Ryan Reynolds to nail the perfect cut (or even to rock his hair style). Thirty dollars at the tailor can save you hundreds at the mall.

To help you leave the tailor looking like a new man, we spoke to Jeremy Miller, operating partner at Alteration Specialists, and KJ Singh, sales manager at Mohan's Custom Tailoring in NYC. Here are their four best tips.

6 Ways to Eat Healthy On a Budget

You want to eat better, but you’re worried about what it’ll do to your wallet.

So just how expensive is a healthy diet, anyway?

Good news: The answer may be “not that much.” Eating more healthfully costs about $1.50 more per day per person compared with less nutritious food habits, according to a 2013 Harvard study. As background, the scientists compared a diet based on fruits, vegetables, nuts, and fish against one based on processed foods, processed meats, and refined grains.

That said, while $1.50 per day is not much if you have a little extra cash in your pocket, the difference over the course of a year adds up to $550 per person, which can be a burden to many people—especially if you multiply that cost by a few family members.

Sex Tip: Touch Her Here

There are ways to be touched that are brilliant and other ways that are kind of blah. If there's one thing we know about the way people touch each other during sex it's that they often touch their partner the way that they, themselves, like to be touched rather than finding out how their partner likes to be touched.

Although there's a lot of variability in how people like touch, it tends to be the case that men - whose genitals are covered in skin and less sensitive than women's - tend to prefer rougher forms of touch. More thrusting, more vigor. Whereas women - whose genitals are more vulnerable and some ways and more sensitive  in some spots (hello, clitoris!) - tend to prefer less aggressive touch. Women often prefer gentle tongue flicks on the clitoris or gentle but first stimulation of their genitals. Again, this isn't always the case - there are no clear gender rules in sex - but generally speaking this is often how things fall out.
