4 ways to get back on the fitness track

Now that you want to get back on the fitness track in order to get rid of the holiday pounds, where do you start?
The answer for weight loss will always and forever be cardio. While not all cardio is created equal, there IS a cardio routine for everyone.
Here are a few fun ways to shed the pounds:

BOX FOR FUN!
Boxing is a great way to burn calories because it's interactive. Most of the time at boxing gyms, your instructor will have you do different things in a one-hour time frame. This includes skip rope, drills, speedball, punching bag and sparring. It's almost like cross training because you usually alternate exercises in short bursts of time. By the time you finish one hour, an average 120-pound woman can lose over 500 calories.
RUN OUTDOORS!
If you hate the treadmill, you might change your mind about running if you bring yourself outdoors to do so. The change in scenery makes it more interesting than just seeing other machines around you. If you aren't lucky enough to live close to an area conducive to jogging, perhaps you can make it a weekend workout when you have the time to drive to the closest place and run like the wind. An hour of running at the pace of a mile every 10 minutes, an average 120-pound woman can lose close to 600 calories.
ZUMBA!
Do you find it hard to control yourself when you hear your favorite song? Zumba is the perfect cardio for you if that's the case. A 60-minute class at mid-intensity can already burn about 430 calories and allow you to show off your moves!
TAKE ON CROSSFIT!
If you like high-intensity workouts, you'll love crossfit. It's a mix of cardio and weights in the form of sandbags and kettlebells, plyometrics and a whole lot of Olympic athlete-level stuff. It's definitely not boring and will push you to your limits. It burns about 472 calories per hour for a 120-pound woman.
